It’s what we do

Building together with young people.

WHERE ARE THE SAFE SPACES?

Sussex is a county of contrasts, where urban, rural, and coastal areas coexist with bustling cities and towns. It is a place where rich and poor, privileged and marginalized, live side by side. It is also a place where young people have many opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun. Whether they are interested in cadets, farming, dancing, sports, or anything else, they can find a club or a group that suits them. They can also find support and friendship in youth clubs, church groups, mental health services, and LGBTQ+ spaces.

Sussex Youth CIC is working hard to capture and share the amazing diversity and vitality of out of school youth activity in Sussex. We want to help funders and partners see the value and the impact of youth clubs and groups, and to understand their needs and challenges. We believe that by working together, we can make Sussex a better place for young people.

BUILDING BLOCKS

You have a vision of creating a youth club that can make a difference in your community. You want to offer young people a safe and fun place where they can enjoy themselves, learn new skills, and find support. You want to prevent anti-social behaviour and crime, and help those who are struggling with mental health issues. You want to start a youth club, but you don’t know how.

We are here to help you. We have the experience and the expertise to guide you through the process of setting up and running a successful youth club. We can help you with the practical aspects, such as safeguarding, governance, compliance, and funding. We can also help you with the relational aspects, such as engaging with young people, listening to their needs and interests, and building partnerships with other organisations and stakeholders in your area. We can help you turn your vision into reality.

You are the key to making this happen. You have the passion, the motivation, and the commitment to start a youth club. You have the potential to change lives and transform your community. You have what it takes to be a youth leader. We are here to support you every step of the way.

CONNECTIONS

Social connections are important for our health, as it can lower anxiety and depression, help us regulate our emotions, lead to higher self-esteem and empathy, and actually improve our immune systems. By neglecting our need to connect, we put our health at risk.

The same is true for those running youth clubs or groups. Without connecting with voluntary services, local authorities or to other groups like yours then your knowledge, experience and ability to create a better space for young people is diminished. We want to help you build connections across Sussex to help you and your youth group.
